The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our fifth members only tournament of 2021 last Saturday June 12th on Lake Bridgeport. It’s not often we travel west and Bridgeport was brand new to most everyone that fished. It provided some different challenges than most of the East Texas lakes do, being clear, deep and rocky. 22 boats made the drive out and waited though a thunderstorm that rolled in during what was supposed to be first cast. Then the wind picked up and was howling and then it died and became a sauna. Despite all that, for the first time in my memory, every team weighed at least one fish and 10 limits were brought in. Our winners at the end of the day were Keith Taylor and James Weir with an excellent bag weighing 17.32 pounds. Big bass of the tournament went to David Choate who caught a 7.43 monster.

Thanks to my partner Chris for checking livewells and keeping us afloat in the waves. Thanks to Cameron for taking care of the money and Paul, Shellye and David for running weigh in. Our next tournament will be on Saturday July 10th on Lake Lavon, going out of the Lavonia Park ramp. Early summer start of 5:00AM! Meeting on Thursday the 8th at Primos. See you there!
