Popular with the club and most tournament
anglers, Cypress Springs offers good 'ol East Texas bass fishing. There
is a good mix of spotted bass and largemouth bass with numbers the key
attraction but good ones are there to be found.
Bass are currently managed with statewide
regulations. 5 fish, 14 inch minimum length limit.
Directions:
Tall Tree/Overlook Park
Located on the north shore at mid-lake. From Mount Vernon, go south on
Texas 37 to FM 21. Turn east (left) and go 3.2 miles to FM 2723. Turn
south (right) and go 4.6 miles to park. .

- Top 6 Tournament Report-Tom -Tom reported a very tough time on Possum
Kingdom Lake. There was a total of 27 Clubs of which 6 teams zeroed.
RHBC did finish in second place in the 'Corn Hole Tournament' (bean
bag toss).
- PVA Tournament Report-Tom and Jeff - Tom reported a good turn out
by the Club members with John Bruner, Eric Huff, and Jeff Cartwright
working both days starting out with the dock fishermen and finishing
the day at weigh in. First day Jerry Shipe and his Vet finished in third
place, second day Tommy Climer and his Vet finished in third place too.
13 Members volunteered -RHBC had the most members volunteering for the
third year in a row earning the Club another $500.00 donation from the
PVA. PVA Tournament will be the first weekend in October for 2013.
- Cypress Springs Tournament-Last tournament of the regular season.
Tournament Times - 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration - 6 a.m. to 6:45 a.m.
Ramp- Overlook Park
- Championship Tournament-Nov. 3rd and 4th. Lake Bob Sandlin - Entry
Fee -100% payout, Club voted no entry fee this year. Club voted to use
the PVA donation split for payout of Big Bass both days ($250.00). Times
- Sat. 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday -6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Ramp
- Titus Ramp Ragan's-Rooms booked for Friday & Saturday nights. Saturday
payout Big Bass only and sack weights carry over to Sunday for final
total weight. Payout First through Seventh Place. Saturday Cookout -
Club will be purchasing the steaks and charcoal with members bringing
sides.
- November Meeting - November 1, 2012 Officer Elections - President,
Vice-President, Webmaster, with Jeff Cartwright volunteering to take
the Secretary/Treasurer for one more year. Lake Selections - Will be
selecting the Lake Committee and voting on lakes for the 2013 season.
Rule Changes - Can only be voted and changed at the November meeting.
- Other New Business - Tommy Morris was supposed to get several packages
of Excite Baits for members but only got 2 packages, which he gave to
Vince Burt and David Simmons who are in a tight race for AOY.
