Meeting Minutes

Call to order.
Tom called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Welcome and introduce any new members. Miguel (Mike) Gutierrez attended the meeting and will join the Club at the June 10, 2010 meeting.

New Business:

  1. Lake Bonham Tournament results. First place winners Aaron Greer and Jason Fagan talked about using black/blue sweet beaver around bull brush in very shallow water to catch their winning sack. Vince Burt and Mark Werner talked about using spinnerbaits in reeds in very shallow water and fishing them like jigs for their second place sack.

  2. Set times for Lake Ray Roberts Tournament. There were two sets of times nominated for Ray Roberts, one was for a 6:30 a.m. start and 3:30 p.m. weigh in time, the second was for a 6:30 a.m. start time and a 3:00 p.m. weigh in time. The 6:30 to 3:30 got 6 Club votes and the 6:30 to 3:00 got 15 Club votes. So the times were set at 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  3. Report on the Rods and Raptor Kids Fish Tournament. Tom started the report on the Rods and Raptor Kids Fish Derby by saying how successful it was even though there had been thunderstorms earlier that morning. The Club had 19 members present for the event. Tom turned over the report to Jeff Cartwright who read the email sent to the Club from Erich Neuport the Executive Director of the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center. The email read as follows; Hi Guys, All the volunteers and myself wants to thank you for a great day. We really had fun, as did all the kids! We received many compliments from the parents for all the enthusiasm. We look forward to nest year’s event and making it much bigger! Jeff also reported that he personally talked to many of the parents who complimented on how the Club members made sure that all the kids caught multiple fish and were very impressed with our willingness to help and teach.

  4. Guest Speaker-Glen Bentley the Tournament Director for the Paralyzed Veterans Tournament. Tom introduced Glen Bentley the Executive Director for Paralyzed Veterans. Glen spoke on the upcoming tournament set for Lake Ray Hubbard June 11-13, 2010. He explained what the PVA was about and what the competitors would be like and any special needs that they might need along with what a volunteers part would be from volunteering your boat to helping out with the dock only fisherman. Tom took applications for those who were interested in using their boats for the event. This is the last charitable event for the Club for those members who want to qualify for AOY and the Club Championship.

  5. Club Picnic-Brockdale Park. Tom talked to the Club about a proposal for a Club Picnic and fishing and Brockdale Park. This picnic will be for Club members and their families. The Club members were in favor to pursue this and come up with some dates such as July 4th. No action was taken to set any dates.
