Ray Hubbard Bass Club
Keeping it local on Lake Lavon in June makes for a good tournament option in the beginning of a Texas summer. While the weather may be hot, don't be surprised if the fishing is also. Bass are currently managed with statewide regulations. 5 fish, 14 inch minimum length limit. Best Pattern: Plastics Lake Lavon
Attended June Meeting:
Meeting Minutes: Call to order. Tom Brouilette called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. Welcome and introduce any new members. None.
Old Business: 1. PVA Tournament-June 11 thru 13, registration on Friday, June 11th at the Bass Pro Shop in Garland. Providing dinner for the participants and volunteers that evening. Cost for being a boater/non-boater is $50.00 fee, which includes both Saturday and Sunday on the water. Saturday you are the guide only and Sunday you get to fish as a team. You are eligible for prizes both days. Tournament pays the top six places. Your $50.00 fee provides you with dinner Friday and Saturday plus t-shirts, food and drinks for on the water and your partner is responsible for half your gas and oil. Also, if you did not participate in the Kids Fish Derby in May and want to qualify for the Club Championship and AOY Award you must participate in the PVA event. The PVA is going to pay a bonus to the Club that provides the most member volunteers and this is in the amount of $500.00. 2. Battle of the Bass Clubs: The Club needs to select a month and date for this event. The months are August or September. The Club chose Late September if there is going to be a tournament for Battle of the Bass Clubs.
3. Fish Care: Ice, ice bottles, Rejuvenate, Hydrogen Peroxide, aerators, etc. Tom went over the procedures for taking care of your catch during the hot months.
4. Partner Finder: No one spoke up needing a ride for the Lavon Tournament.
5. Cedar Creek Tournament: Set launch site. Tabled until July 8th Meeting. Officers will be checking out ramps since BLT is going out of Log Cabin ramp.
6. Tom Redington: Guest Speaker for the July 8th Meeting. Tom reported that Tom Redington will be the guest speaker next month and he will be speaking on the topics of Deep water structure fishing and How to fish boat docks.
Old Business: 7. Lake Lavon: Info on the courtesy dock at the Lavonia south ramp. Start time set for 6:30 a.m., possible start earlier due to safe light is quite earlier. Needs a Club Vote. Club voted on new fishing times for this tournament, which will be 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
8. Ray Roberts Tournament Winners: a. William Hitchcock and Steve Higginbotham won this tournament. Reported they spent all day in Indian Creek using Gambler ugly otters and lizards to catch their fish. Reported bite shut off about 11:00 a.m. b. Tom Brouillette and Jay Messersmith won 2nd Place using Zell poppers, flipping craws, flukes, and mega craws up in Indian Creek. c. Rick Carter reported they caught their 3rd Place sack using brush hogs.
9. Eric Vidal wanted to know if the Club was still going to do a Club Picnic at Brockdale Park. Tom asked the question if July 4th weekend would work. Announcement will be made by email and at the Lavon Tournament. 10. Meeting Adjourned at 7:40 p.m. 11. The Club had 2 new membership sign ups after the meeting. They were Sean Watson and Dylan Robbins, both from Rowlett.
