Ray Hubbard Bass Club
Lake Winnsboro February 11, 2012
Launch: CR 4890 Ramp by the Dam
Time: 8am - 4pm

Lake Winnsboro - Season Opener! This lake will be new for the club and begin the new year!

One of the Wood County lakes it features scarce aquatic vegetation, it has areas of flooded timber and a small number of boat houses which provide additional cover. Although some trophy bass have been caught in Lake Winnsboro, the lake is better known for high catch rates than trophies. Crankbaits and spinnerbaits fished along main-lake points, and flooded timber are productive. Popular soft plastic baits include worms, tubes, grubs, and soft-jerkbaits. Flipping weedless rigged softplastics among the maidencane and emergent vegetation can be an effective presentation in the spring.

Bass are currently managed with statewide regulations. 5 fish, 14 inch minimum length limit.

  4. February 11th Lake Winnsboro Tournament - Tournament Times - Times nominated where 8 to 4, 7 to 3, and 7:30 to 3:30. 7:30 to 3:30 received 7 votes, 7 to 3 received 13 votes and 8 to 4 received 21 votes. Club approved the 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. times. Ramp - West side next to Dam. Safety - Tom talked about the recent rains has just covered several of the stumps that were barely out of the water several weeks ago and once you leave the ramp to go straight to the east side and you can run up the east side hugging the shore line up to the fork in the lake but there are still stumps less than 50 yards off the east shore line. Tom encourages everyone to idle especially if you do not know the lake.
