Ray Hubbard Bass Club - Lake Lavon
Saturday August 11, 2012
Launch: Lavonia Park South (by the Dam)
Time: 6:00am to 2:00pm

Lake Lavon in August should provide a welcome outing close to home. Its August, it will be hot but Lake Lavon should impress with large bags of solid bass. Rocks, timber, boat ramps, marinas, points humps and more.

Claiming their second win of the season were David Simmons and Jared Fish with 5 for 23.19. Congratulations guys!


Big bass paid out two places because we had 30 boats or more. 2nd place big bass went to Simmons & Fish with Jared catching this 6.89 toad.


Second place went to Tommy and Tony Climer with a giant bag of 5 for 22.19 that included big bass of the tournament an 8.49 beast!


We knew we were in for an interesting weigh in when the first team to the scales Tommy Morris and Jay Knox pulled these two toads from the bag.


Fourth place went to the above mentioned Tommy Morris and Jay Knox who had an outstanding bag of 5 for 19.26.


Club AOY leaders Vince Burt and Mark Werner continued their strong season with a 6th place finish with 5 for 13.64.


Herman Larkin and Frank Story with a nice limit.


Here's David Taylor with a nice chunk.

  4. Lake Lavon Tournament - Ramp - Lavonia South (free ramp) - Tournament Times - 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with registration starting at 4:00 a.m. to 4:45 a.m. Club voted unanimously to change times to 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with registration starting at 5:00 a.m. to 5:45 a.m. Fish Care - Tom talked about fish care, using ice, 'Release Me' and hydrogen peroxide and keeping livewells cool. Trailering allowed -Jay Messersmith talked about the off limits at the pump stations, power plant, and dam.

  5. Top Six Tournament -Jeff Cartwright gave the following report; Possum Kingdom Lake -Bonita Shores Marina. Tournament Date - Sunday September 30th. Off Limits- September 17th thru 27th. Practice Days - Friday September 28th and Saturday September 29th. Skeeter giving demo rides on Saturday and automatically registers you for a $1000.00 give away. Saturday evening - All Participants must be off the water by 5:00 p.m. for mandatory registration, meeting and dinner. Bean Bag Toss Tournament-Saturday at 5:30 p.m. with Cash Prizes. Club voted to participate in the Top Six.

  6. Financial Report - Championship Fund-$2075.00 and total Funds at $5090.00.Jeff Cartwright gave this report to the Club.

  7. Lake Fork Tournament - Set Times - Club voted for 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with launch out of Lake Fork Marina. Guest Speaker - Tom Reddington will be at the September meeting.

  8. Championship Tournament- Nov. 3rd & 4th on Lake Bob Sandlin. Club will be staying at Ragan's Lodging. Tom went over the Championship details and lodging again.

  9. Other Club Business -
    Announcement - PVA will be the first weekend in October and Club members were encouraged to volunteer so the Club could have the most members help out again for the third year in a row.

    BLT Feb. 2, 2013 - Charlie Davis asked for the Club to help with launching at Chandler's, weigh-in at Market Hall in Dallas. Will be discussed again at future meetings.

    Take Soldier Fishing on Grapevine -Will be launching from Katie Woods Ramp and tournament times are 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with 5-fish limit. This is set for September the 16, 2012. 10.
